ABOUT OUR ORGANISATION
INTERVAC was started in Europe in the early 1950's by a group of teachers who were looking for economic means to travel internationally. After a few exchanges, they realized that this economic way of travel was also a superior way to cultivate international friendships and understanding.
So the concept has been growing ever since - primarily by referrals from satisfied home exchangers. Currently INTERVAC offers its services in 50 countries and facilitates home exchanges for 20,000 families from all walks of life.
The name INTERVAC is made from words "international" and "vacations" and it is being registered as a trademark in many countries where INTERVAC operates.
INTERVAC operates by appointing exclusive representatives (we call them "Organisers") in various countries who promote the concept of home exchange within their country. INTERVAC uses our standard methods around the world, but country representations are nationally-owned and operated.
In countries where we are represented we simply call ourselves INTERVAC followed by the country name. For example we are INTERVAC Austria in Austria, INTERVAC Canada in Canada, INTERVAC France, and so on. The umbrella organisation - INTERVAC International - is registered as a non-profit organisation in Sweden.
